Instrument/Rental Requirements
The WBSD only rents school-owned instruments to students who are receiving free and reduced lunch from the district or need access to a type of instrument that is not provided by our local music stores (ie. Marching Baritone, Tuba). The following guide may help to clarify:
- Oboe – Rent/purchase through music store and please reach out to a director to coordinate a ‘secondary instrument’ for marching (we don’t march oboes at WBHS)
- Bass Clarinet/Bari Sax/Bassoon – Rent through school. Also, please reach out to a director to coordinate a ‘secondary instrument’ for marching (typically Clarinet or Alto Sax)
- French Horn – Rent through school
- Baritone – Rent/purchase a concert baritone (AKA euphonium) from a local music store but the school will provide a marching baritone to use in the fall
- Tuba – Rent through school (includes Sousaphone – “marching tuba”)
- Perc – Students will need to have their own stick bag including yarn mallets, plastic mallets, concert snare sticks, and marching snare sticks
*If your instrument isn’t listed above, please procure one through a music store (rent or purchase), or if you qualify for a school rental (based on lunch status), complete a rental contract and turn it into a director.
